A Shared Dinner

This week, in lieu of class, all sections met at the Tudor Room in the Indiana Memorial Union, where the staff had prepared a dinner of foods representing the cultures of the various countries we will be visiting. Everything was delicious, although we learned that we probably won't actually encounter Orange Chicken in China.

Not everyone has mastered the use of chopsticks, but He Laoshi told us we will get some more practice in class later on.

The meal was a great opportunity to get to know our fellow travellers better. Over dinner we discussed classes, hometowns, escalating tensions between the U.S. and China, and former traveling experiences. It's safe to say we're all excited about the trip - I'm just hoping we can all find acceptable things to eat when we're there.

I took a little video of the buffet line. This just proves I need to work on my videography before the trip begins. I'll try to find more interesting subject matter, too, like students describing their experiences rather than simply dishing food onto their plates.
